Join us at Comanche Lookout Park for this fun, free family event on August 19th! The competition will start at 9 a.m. and end at 10 a.m. on the dot. Participants will walk around the park, capturing pokemon (especially Zubats and Golbats) and answering trivia questions about bats to win points. The competitor with the most points will win one of our swirly bat jumbo crayons and a certificate for the competition! This event is FREE, though a small donation is recommended.

See below for official competition rules.
Before we start, we will check to see if you have any pokemon that you have already caught. If so, you’ll need to give them funky names so we know where the pokemon you caught today start!
Try to catch as many pokemon as you can! Golbats are worth 2 points, Zubats are worth 1 point, and all other pokemon are worth ½ point. You will have exactly an hour to capture pokemon in the park.
For every pokemon you catch, you MUST answer a question about bats. You only get points if you catch a pokemon AND answer a question correctly! So, if you catch 15 Zubats but only answer 12 questions correctly, you get 12 points. You must do these questions in order. E.g. for your first pokemon caught, answer the first question. For your second pokemon caught, answer the second question.
You can also earn ¼ of a point by answering bat questions that you don’t catch pokemon for. However, you will not get extra points for both catching a pokemon and answering the corresponding question. You do not have to answer these questions in order.
You ARE allowed to look up answers to the questions. In fact, it’s encouraged. But be careful about where you get your information from–some sources are more reliable than others.
When you are done, return to the meeting point. You must be back by 10 a.m., or you will be disqualified! We will help you tally up your points, and double-check the winner’s recently caught pokemon.
The winner will receive a jumbo bat crayon, a sheet of locally designed bat stickers, and a certificate for winning this competition!
