Bat Watch at Bracken Village

Join us at our classroom in Bracken Village, located 6 miles south of Bracken Cave Preserve, the largest colony of bats in the WORLD! During this bat watch, we will use acoustic technology to detect bat echolocation calls as they emerge at dusk to forage for insects. You will learn a little bit about how the technology works, which species of bats are native to this area other than the famous Freetail, and about the diet, habitat, and threats facing bats throughout the state and around the U.S. The tour will meet approximately a half hour after sunset, and last an hour, to an hour and a half.

Note: You will receive a digital ticket after your purchase, along with instructions for the night of the event. We recommend that you dress to prevent bug bites and bring a camping chair.
